A Prayer for the Dying

From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death)

Death is the end of the life of a biological organism. Death may refer to the end of life as either an event or condition.[1] Many factors can cause or contribute to an organism's death, including predation, disease, habitat destruction, senescence, malnutrition and accidents or physical injury. The principal causes of human death in developed countries are diseases related to aging.[1] The knowledge of death is central to human culture and many religions. In medicine, biological details and definitions of death have become increasingly complicated as technology advances.

However, we know that while this biological organism or vehicle or shell called 'body' may go on functioning, our soul may be suffering a slow death. There are many injuries that can occur in the span of a lifetime. The innocence we were born into soon evaporates into a mangled state of confusion, fear and suffering. As a result we start building walls around us. Unfortunately these walls don't really protect us, they suffocate us into automated beings. We suffer the influences of society, education and world views. We become nothing more than incubators for more negativity.

This prayer is for those of you that have lost loved-ones as a result of the current situation of violence and crime in this country. It is also a prayer for those of you that feel that you suffer injury on a spiritual level, or feel hopeless or feel betrayed or feel scared to open your eyes to another disappointing day.

If this body I should leave
And no longer have breath to breathe
If I cast off this cloak of Maya
Let me go in peace
Let me go

This body is not who I am,
The Me you have loved
will live on for eternity
Always awake, Always in health;
By your side

Cast off the veils of illusion
See beyond all that is here
And with the True Eye perceive me as I really am:
Omnipotent spark of Divinity
neverending, ever-living twin of Thee
